About us

On the outskirts of the Triglav National Park, amidst an intact nature and only a few metres from the Bohinj Lake stands our pride. The story began with our grandfather, who laid the first foundations of our family hotel, which then accommodated only a few guests and friends, back in 1970. A gastronomy enthusiast and a passionate hunter at heart, his sincere desire and life goal was to offer guests a unique stay and unforgettable experience. He used to entertain guests and partied with them in his home environment in the company of good food and drinks. He treated each guest as his friend and they considered him a friend as well. He was always in good spirits and was proud of his achievements.
Back then, that was something of a rarity, for this reason he named the hotel Kristal.

We have accomplished a lot since then. We expanded and entirely renovated our premises, improved the offer and extended the team. Starting with only a few beds we now have 30 rooms, which reflect homeliness and warmth with their Alpine style and the furniture made of locally processed wood.
Our main principle, however, never changed, since we still offer our guests only the most fresh, the best and the most delicious of our region, bringing them a unique experience that they will never forget.

We already hosted many celebrities, who were gastronomically  pampered and enjoyed the refined taste of home-made chocolate, they were sweating in the Finnish sauna, relaxing with the Ayurvedic massage under the watchful eye of Mr. Badari Dhunanga, who comes from Nepal, and enjoyed engaging in activities in the surrounding area.

Among them was Mr. Milan Kučan, first president of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Danilo Türk, former president of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr. Zoran Milanovič, former primer minister of the Republic of Croatia. We also had guests from the film and entertainment industry, one of whom was Mr. Armand Assante, who visited us in 2014. Of many regular guests we must not forget the globally renowned film and theatre actor and musician, Mr. Rade Šerbedžija, who has been our regular guest for several years now and who has been coming here with his family to enjoy holidays in the untouched nature as well as the excellent food and drinks.

Here you will enjoy the magnificent, authentic family-like atmosphere, the excellent cuisine, peace and silence in harmony with an intact nature. In addition to relaxing and enhancing your senses, you will find an excellent starting point at our hotel to the surrounding places that offer countless opportunities for peaceful or active holidays.

Pleasure-seekers will enjoy the lazy afternoons and scintillating evenings in our reception room which is equipped with a real fireplace and will try our own flavourful chocolate.

And finally, we did not leave out art enthusiasts, since we have been proudly hosting international artworks for several years now, which are exhibited in every corner of our hotel for your viewing pleasure.
